When something breaks, we have a responsibility to fix it. Repair enhances an
object’s perceived social and physical value through the materials a designer
employs and the aesthetic decisions made to revive function and affection.
Repair is an act of rebellion against the landfill, consumption, materialism,
and industrial production processes. The following objects were repaired for
strangers whom I met online through email listservs. Each is a part of my larger
Master of Industrial Design thesis project I’m doing at the Rhode Island School of Design.
