In this project, I used the precision of CNC digital fabrication to carve a mold out of cherry wood,
chosen for its grain and texture. After carving, I soaked the mold in water to prepare it for the blowing
process. As the mold was repeatedly used, the wood grain began to change and break down,
introducing an element of randomness and beauty that contrasted with the initial precision of the CNC.
Each time I blew glass into the mold, the resulting piece was entirely unique, reflecting both the hyper-
accurate start and the organic, evolving nature of the wood. This project beautifully exemplifies the
intersection of modern digital techniques and traditional craftsmanship, where the controlled meets
the uncontrolled, resulting in varied and one-of-a-kind creations.
